The MUSES project is entering a new phase. We have passed the end date of our original 5-year NSF award, and so it is time to migrate our web services from NCSA to a new platform: NSF ACCESS. The computing resources provided by ACCESS are free of charge, with our usage moderated by a finite budget of credits. Consequently, the scale of our operational cluster will be much smaller, with a proportional reduction in Calculation Engine usage limits. As we leverage this platform to transition MUSES to a sustainable open source project, I will continue to be the primary system administrator as we formulate a long term plan based on future funding information that we are still awaiting.
This migration will not be seamless; there will be intermittent outages of services including the forum, Calculation Engine, and cloud storage. We may retire some services in the process like our JupyterHub. There may be issues with application performance on the new cluster until we optimize its configuration. Your patience is appreciated.
